South mountain is about 70 kilometers south of Urumqi city. It is part of Tianshan mountain and located south of Urumqi, so people call it Nanshan the south mountain, The Nanshan mountain is green and have beautiful valleys, waterfall and kazak Yurts, Kazak nomads live there for long time, you can visit Kazak Yurt and enjoy the kumiss, cheese, mutton, shish kabab and other foods of kazak folk flavors. By car it will take about one and half hours. In the hot summer, it's an ideal holiday place. people like to have picnic and stay overnight there, in winter people go there for sky since ,because there are some snow fields.

In the morning, leaving hotel to visit Xijiang Regional museum,witch is the best museum in the region, contains more than 10 thousand historical relics witnessing the mysterious past of silk road, The best part of the museum is the mummies witch 3800 years old, were found from the Taklamakan desert. After museum drive 10km to Red hill,there you can to see whole Urumqi.After lunch ,go to the Urumqi grand Bazaar, it is located at the southern part of the city, and it is the original part of the Urumqi, populated mainly by Uyghurs. At Grand bazaar,you can see various handcrafts, special teas, dry fruits ….from Xinjiang area as well as around.
