Day 1 | Arrival in Kashgar
Arrive at Kashgar airport or railway station; meet your local guide and transfer to your hotel. If time permits, take your first stroll inside Kashgar Old City. Wander local alleyways and sample authentic Uyghur street food. Overnight in Kashgar.
Day 2 | Kashgar City Deep Dive
Full-day sightseeing across Kashgar. Visit Id Kah Mosque, explore lively handicraft quarters and the bustling morning bazaar. Watch local artisans at work making knives, carpets and pottery. Spend your evening enjoying the atmosphere of the old-town night market. Overnight in Kashgar.
Day 3 | Kashgar – Karakul Lake – Tashkurgan (≈ 290 km / 4.5 h)
Depart Kashgar and travel upwards along the Karakoram Highway across the Pamir Plateau. Pass alpine grasslands and snow-dusted mountain peaks. Stop for extended sightseeing at Karakul Lake with views of Muztagh Ata. Continue driving to Tashkurgan. Overnight in Tashkurgan (high-altitude destination).
Day 4 | Tashkurgan Local Exploration

Day 5 | Tashkurgan – Karakoram Highway – Kashgar (≈ 290 km / 4.5 h)
Drive back towards Kashgar along the Karakoram Highway. Make photo stops again at Karakul Lake and mountain viewpoints to capture different light conditions. Arrive back in Kashgar late afternoon. Free evening for rest and independent exploration. Overnight in Kashgar.
Day 6 | Kashgar to Hotan (≈ 500 km / 6 h)
Travel east along the southern Silk-Road corridor towards Hotan. The route runs close to the southern edge of the Taklamakan Desert. Observe the shifting transition between desert dunes and fertile oasis farmland. Arrive in Hotan and check-in to your hotel. Overnight in Hotan.
Day 7 | Hotan Full-Day Sightseeing
Explore Hotan’s cultural highlights. Visit local jade markets, silk-weaving workshops and carpet-making studios. Wander the old city quarters and Hotan Grand Bazaar. You may also visit the historic Yotkan ruins site. Taste local specialities at the night market. Overnight in Hotan.
Day 8 | Hotan – Drive along Southern Taklamakan Edge
Continue your journey east, tracing the ancient southern Silk-Road along the periphery of the Taklamakan Desert. Enjoy expansive desert-oasis landscapes en-route. Stop at small rural Uyghur villages along the highway. Settle in for overnight accommodation en-route towards Kuqa.
Day 9 | Arrive in Kuqa & Kuqa Local Tour
Reach historic Kuqa, the heart of the ancient Qiuci kingdom. Tour the Subashi Temple ruins, admire vivid-coloured mountain and canyon scenery surrounding the town. Wander Kuqa local bazaar and old residential streets. Overnight in Kuqa.
Day 10 | Departure from Kuqa
Transfer to Kuqa railway station or airport for your onward flight or train connection. Your 10-Day Southern Xinjiang Tour comes to an end.
