What to Prepare?
Documents
Please carry your physical passport and valid Chinese visa.
Depending on your nationality and current travel policies, supplementary paperwork or special entry permits may be required for certain zones around Tashkurgan and border-adjacent areas.
Clothing
Sturdy, comfortable walking footwear and versatile layered clothing are highly recommended.
Temperatures swing dramatically across Xinjiang between desert basins, urban centres and high-altitude mountain zones, so adaptable layering is essential.
Sun Protection
Pack sunglasses, high-strength sunscreen, a sun hat and moisturising lip balm.
Intense UV exposure in desert and mountain elevations makes proper sun protection especially critical.
Medication
Bring your personal prescription medicines together with a basic travel medical kit.
Travellers susceptible to altitude-related discomfort should take suitable precautions ahead of entering the Pamir Plateau.
Gear
We suggest bringing a camera, portable power bank, reusable water bottle and compact day-pack for daily sightseeing excursions.
